Wanda and Sue attended the Riga UMC in Latvia this Sunday Morning in which Rev. Gita Medne is the pastor and our host in Riga. Rev. Medne lived in the USA for many years when her parents fled when she was just one year old from the persecution in Latvia to the USA. God called her to be a pastor in Latvia and came back with her husband to receive the assignment to Riga UMC. Today we celebrated Mother's Day as part of the service as well as coffee & tea after the service for the whole congregation. It was an inspiring service of prayers and singing with the sermon from the pastor on Mother 's role in the past and present. Riga UMC is in covenant relations with two UMC churches in the Central Texas Conference. One of their local mission outreach programs is to staff and care for a Home of Unwed Mothers. Tomorrow we fly to Lithuania to meet the rest of the team to begin our Ubuntu journey.
